    Communications & Marketing Manager
    Job description
    Reports to: CEO

    Responsible for: The Communications & Marketing team and the PR team

    POSITION DESCRIPTION: This energetic, creative, and self-directed professional serves as the chief communications and outreach strategist, overseeing all communications, marketing, branding and outreach efforts for the organization. S/he is responsible for devising and implementing short- and long-term strategies for all communications and marketing activities to help support the organization’s strategic goals. As the Communications & Marketing Manager, s/he reports directly to the CEO and is part of the organization’s executive management team.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    Strategy

    Develop and implement AHSF’s communications and marketing strategy.
    Ensure the branding guidelines are met for all AHSF programs and activities and ensure it is in line with AHSF’s mission, vision and strategy
    Undertake the necessary monitoring and evaluation activities in order to determine and to ensure the success of the communications and marketing strategies.
    Contribute expertise in the areas of media and online engagement and public outreach to AHSF’s overall strategic planning.
    Marketing /Publications:

    Coordinate and manage the development and production of all communication materials for AHSF and its programs to effectively support the advancement of AHSF
    Oversee, writes and edits all communication documents including publications, communication materials, press releases and edits official letters, nominations letters and award letters relevant to the work of AHSF.
    Oversee the production of all print materials, publications, RFAs, projects documents and reports.
    Participate in the planning, coordinating and executing communication products and publications related to AHSF’s events.
    Prepare key message for the Foundation to be used for marketing and communication purposes.
    Coordinate and manage public outreach and events to promote AHSF programs and activities.
    Lead the management of all events of AHSF including lectures, forums, conferences, ceremonies and celebrations.
    Ensure the development and implementation of guidelines, policies and procedures for any events done by programs ranging from conferences to workshops
    Set the visibility guidelines throughout the grant making process and follow up with the grantees that AHSF requirements are met.
    Spread knowledge about AHSF programs and activities through traditional, online and social media and AHSF’s website to convey AHSF’s mission to diverse constituencies.
    Ensure that the AHSF website is updated and regularly enhanced by posting AHSF’s announcements, prizes, lectures, film screenings, articles, blogs, videos and other relevant content, and by overseeing the website to ensure quality.
    Develop print materials and branding strategies for employees use.
    Ensure that all AHSF output, including publications, articles, press kits and key correspondence copy, is in AHSF’s branding guidelines.
    Set and implement an internal communication plan to promote AHSF’s activities and programs within AHSF.
    Assist in updating and developing AHSF’s presence on social media networks.
    Develop new and creative communication streams, including podcasts and videos.
    Oversee development and management of database systems for communications & outreach.
    General

    Recruit, train, motivate and manage the department staff (and volunteers where appropriate) to assist in carrying out the above responsibilities.
    Develop and administer a tracking system for all AHSF’s interactions with the press and members of the public.
    Serve as AHSF spokesperson to the media and for the public.
    Write speeches for the AHSF’s events when needed.
    Develop objectives and KPIs for managing the teams and measuring their achievements – Implement a management by objectives and evaluation by deliverables system
    Develop the annual communications, marketing & outreach budgets and identify and monitor resources required to achieve stated goals.
    Develop and implement a “loop of information sharing” among all staff, ensuring that communication is positive and constructive
    Represent AHSF to stakeholders, friends, partners and the public.
    Complete other duties as assigned by the CEO.
    Qualifications and Skills:

    Bachelor degree in communications or marketing.
    At least eight years’ experience in communications (preferably in the not-for-profit sector).
    Exceptional written communications skills in Arabic and English, with ability to adapt style to suit different communications media and audiences.
    Excellent interpersonal skills.
    Leadership skills
    General understanding of the not-for-profit sector.
    Enthusiasm for new opportunities presented by blogging and social media.
    Creative and innovative approach to communications and branding.
    Experience of web content management systems

    Internship – Call for Applications- UNDP Regional Hub, Amman Office
    Job description
    Background

    UNDP is the United Nation’s global development network advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to assist people build a better life. UNDP’s vision is to assist countries in achieving the simultaneous eradication of poverty and significant reduction of inequalities and exclusion. To strengthen inclusive and effective governance, the UNDP Strategic Plan focuses ensuring participation and voice in pursuit of equitable access to development opportunities and working with poor and other excluded groups as agents of their own development.

    The Regional Hub for the Arab States in Amman, Jordan, expands and revitalizes UNDP’s presence in the Arab region. It provides policy advice and programmatic support to country offices in the region in an effort to be more responsive to increasing needs across the region. It also comes as part of UNDP’s global effort to become a more effective and efficient organization, fit for its purpose – to help countries achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and leave no one behind.

    UNDP’s Amman Regional Hub is establishing a roster from which to pool qualified interns during the course of 2018/2019 for a maximum period of 6 months, subject to the needs of the following Clusters/teams at the hub

    1- Governance and Peacebuilding

    The Governance And Peacebuilding Team Is Structured Along The Following Sub-themes

    The Governance and Peacebuilding (G&P) Team provides assistance to the needs and priorities of country offices, regional projects and initiatives to ensure quality programming in the areas of conflict prevention and peacebuilding, inclusive political processes, rule of law, prevention of violent extremism (PVE), state building and public-sector reform, local governance, HIV, Health and Development.

    Core Governance Functions;
    Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding (including PVE);
    Rule of Law; and,
    Inclusive Political processes (i.e. Elections, Parliament)
    2- Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development

    The team supports Country Offices and their national partners to develop their own integrated, transformative and scalable solutions to tackle the interconnected challenges of poverty, vulnerability, inequality and exclusion, in ways that are economically, socially and environmental sustainable, to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The team assists in enhancing prospects for inclusive growth, jobs and livelihoods at national and local levels, including through economic recovery and resilience-building in crisis and post crisis contexts, focusing on empowering women and youth, and advancing opportunities for the most vulnerable. We also extend policy and program guidance for the implementation and monitoring of the SDGs, consistent with the UNDG MAPS (Mainstreaming, Acceleration, Policy Support) framework.

    3– Innovation

    UNDP emphasizes the need to identify, explore, test, evaluate and scale up innovative approaches across priority subject areas, in programme development, management and review, through established and new knowledge and collaboration partnerships, and as a key part of our own institutional innovation. UNDP focuses on the following two areas: (1) Innovative methodologies and tools for scanning the horizon, collecting and analysing data, and ideating, designing, prototyping and testing development solutions; and (2) Innovative methodologies and tools for scaling up demonstration projects identified/developed and ready for application. Collaboration across sectors (public, private, civil) with traditional partners and as well as those actors less historically engaged is a key element of this strategy.

    The UNDP Innovation Facility, launched in 2014, supports initiatives that a) strengthen UNDP’s position as a leading advisor on innovation for development; b) enable national development actors to co-create value; c) increase understanding of the role and value of innovation for development; d) support social innovators both within the organization and from the broader development community; and finally, e) enhance UNDP’s own performance efficiency through innovative practices.

    The Innovation Facility, situated in UNDP’s Development Impact Group and headquartered in New York, coordinates the allocation of funding and the substantive support to Country Offices through Regional Portfolio Teams, based in Addis Ababa, Amman, Bangkok, Istanbul, and Panama, and HQ staff.

    Through the Innovative Team at the hub, Country offices in the region receive programme and policy advice on the above areas of focus and innovative related initiatives.

    4- Climate Change and the Environment

    One important track of UNDP cooperation is in the area of Climate Change and Environment. Countries in the Arab region are placing greater attention to: risks from climate change and drought; expanding solar energy and other low-carbon solutions; conserving increasingly scarce water resources; and promoting sustainable use of land and ecosystems. UNDP is the UNs largest provider of grant assistance to countries on these issues, with USD $4 billion of programming today in over 140 countries, including a growing number of partnerships in the Arab region.

    The team expands cooperation in the Arab region, focusing on managing risks, building resilience, and implementing multilateral agreements such as the new Paris Agreement on Climate Change and Sendai DRR Framework. This is done in partnership with Government, civil society, business partners, regional entities like the League of Arab States, sister UN agencies, and global partners like the Global Environment Facility and Green Climate Fund

    5- Gender

    The gender team in the regional hub provides support and advice to the regional programme of UNDP working closely with UNWomen, UNFPA and other UN agencies on work on gender justice, women as peace-makers, access to jobs and economic empowerment as well as the development of resilience and livelihoods programming. The gender team is seeking to develop a new area of programming with the public and private sector, based on the successful experience of UNDP in Latin America in developing a Private Sector Gender Equity Seal.

    6- Sub-Regional Response Facility (SRF) – Syria Related Crisis

    To contribute to regional coordination and to accelerate the resilience agenda in response to the Syria crisis in the sub-region, UNDP established the Sub-Regional Response Facility (SRF) to 1. Develop the required policy, strategic and partnership framework to roll out a resilience-based development response, 2. Generate the required knowledge, capacities and advocacy around the resilience-based approach, and 3. Establish relevant partnership and coalitions to leverage financial resources for the implementation of the resilience agenda in the sub-region. In this context, the conception and implementation of the Regional Refugee and Resilience Plan (3RP), co-led by UNDP and UNHCR, has bridged humanitarian efforts and development approach for resilience building in Syria’s neighboring countries. UNDP and UNHCR signed a regional MOU to consolidate the cooperation between the two organizations and draw on their respective comparative advantages. The Regional UNDP-UNHCR Joint Secretariat is hosted in the UNDP SRF.

    The SRF team focuses on improving the resilience-policy space offered to ensure a resilience-based development response in Syria’s neighboring countries hosting refugees and in Syria. This will include, amongst other, renewed analysis on guaranteeing more effectiveness to the humanitarian-development nexus within the response, the relation between resilience-building and gender empowerment, social protection in crisis context, resilience-building and human rights, resilience-building and conflict prevention, and resilient economic systems and private sector engagement in crisis context.

    7- Operations

    The team provides advice on corporate operational strategies, policies and plans. It is responsible for delivering effective and efficient financial, human resources, procurement, administrative and logistical, and ICT services to all teams at the hub, in consistency with UNDP rules and regulations.

    Stronger partnerships are essential for delivering on the vision and outcomes in UNDP’s Strategic Plan. The team advises Country Offices and the Regional Programme on how to partner with and raise funds from governments, private entities, development banks, and foundations to promote sustainable development. it provides partner intelligence and analysis on alignment between donor development mandates and UNDP priority thematic areas of work. The team advises Country Offices on their Resource Mobilization Implementation Plans.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Policy And Strategy Advice And Development

    While specified TOR will be based on the selection of the cluster/team, the tasks to be performed by the intern fall under one or more of the following categories as per the requirements/needs of each cluster/team:

    Prepare policy briefs, sector scan, status papers on development challenges based on desk review studies and analysis for evidence based advocacy and policy development in the relevant field.;
    Assist in the development of new or ongoing initiatives, including review of policy literature in respect to the subject to enhance UNDP programming in the relevant field within the Arab Region;
    Document good practices, cases studies, innovations and pilot models for wider dissemination and sharing;
    Prepare Report/Note on the role of UNDP’s Programmatic Support in Structural Transformation in Arab States
    Project Design, Formulation And Other Project Related Functions

    Assist in policy development in relevant area within UNDP in the Arab Region feeding into global policy development;
    Prepare conceptual framework / concept notes on new areas of work or development challenges;
    Assist in the development of technical support in development of new interventions or projects;
    Prepare and review project documents;
    Knowledge Management & Communications

    Prepare knowledge and communication products for advocacy and outreach, related to national, regional and global initiatives within the relevant team;
    Review knowledge and communications products (subject, design and content);
    Disseminate knowledge and communications products
    Contribute to the preparation of social media content, the drafting of news, interviews and stories for knowledge platform, the development of relevant brochures, videos and infographics.
    Contribute to the development of press releases for printed and online media outlets, especially on the occasion of regional projects’ activities and events.
    Draft or support drafting of blog posts and other externally-facing pieces on emerging trends in relevant field;
    Capture stories which reflect on know how (procedures, processes, tactics) and know why (lessons learned, reasons for failures/success).
    Undertake regular website updates
    Research And Data Management

    Undertake research on relevant initiatives in areas of interest;
    Conduct data collection and analyze data collected
    Conduct desk reviews of existing research and literature on specific area.
    Develop a repository of certain/specific initiatives from the region, with supporting resources such as presentations, press releases, blogs, etc;
    Manage files and online database of related documents in a structured way.
    Operations Support

    Provide administrative and logistical support.
    Support organization of workshops, conferences and retreats in coordination with other staff; support for international participants’ travel and logistics matters;
    Organize travel arrangements, including drawing up itineraries, preparing travel authorization and visa forms, obtaining clearances and signatures, ticket reservations, and processing travel claims.
    Support administration of supply and assets management;
    Collection of information for DSA, travel agencies and other administrative surveys
    Support preparation of specific budgets.
    Assist in preparation of financial and accounting documents;
    Support preparation of documentation for audit.
    Support to organization of procurement processes including preparation of RFQs, ITBs or RFPs documents, receipt of quotations, bids or proposals, their preliminary evaluation.
    Development electronic template and applications to facilitate automation of operations processes.
    Provide help desk services.

    Required Skills And Experience

    Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

    Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or
    equivalent, or higher);

    Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
    Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.
    Experience

    Excellent communication skills; Ability to write clearly and concisely;
    Initiative, sound judgment and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members of different national and cultural backgrounds;
    Good command of information and communication technology.
    Some knowledge of the Arab region would be helpful.
    Languages

    Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Arabic and French language skills would be an asset but not necessary.

    Communication Officer
    BACKGROUND TO IRC
    Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives.
    Working in coordination with the humanitarian community and the Government of Jordan, the IRC's assistance program for Syrian refugees in Jordan includes both camp-based (Zaatari, Cyber City and King Abdullah Park camps) and urban-based refugee assistance (Mafraq, Ramtha, Irbid). The IRC's assistance programs focus on supporting the health / reproductive health as well as the gender based violence (GBV) and mental health/psychosocial support (MHPSS) sectors through the operation of two clinics in Ramtha and Mafraq, providing comprehensive PHC, RH, GBV and psychosocial support (PSS) services to urban refugees. Recognizing the vulnerabilities of urban refugees and particularly the risk to women and girls posed by lack of economic means to secure shelter and other basic needs IRC also provides cash assistance to vulnerable families in Irbid, Ramtha and Mafraq. In Zaatari IRC is responsible for the case management of unaccompanied minors.

    SCOPE OF WORK:
    The Economic Recovery and Development (ERD) Communication Officer will work closely with the ERD Senior Monitoring Officer to support the implementation of ERD activities mainly being responsible to create high-quality Information, Education and Communication (IEC) material such as booklets, brochures and posters and oversee the production of visibility material in line with the IRC’s branding guidelines for the IRC’s Economic Recovery and Development Program (ERD) in Jordan.
    The (ERD) Information Management Assistant will be based in the East Amman Center office in order to work with program assistants from the different technical areas, and will be committed to providing updated data/information for internal reporting requirements.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Technical Quality
    Assist and ensure compliance of activities with project communication strategy by following IRC and donors guidelines.
    Coordinate communication activities and events of the project and partners.
    Take lead in the dissemination of communication materials to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
    Lead development of case studies, snap shots, success stories, and lessons learnt, personal experience (blogs) from field based staff and relevant ERD program documents and suggest recommendations on various communication issues as and when required.
    Work with the ERD program teams, and partners, to develop visibility and communications plans for ERD projects.
    Work with program sector leads to develop and produce IRC information and communication materials such as brochures, newsletters, press releases, flyers, factsheets and posters in both English and Arabic and other publications as well as supporting generation of content under the supervision of the ERD Senior Monitoring Officer
    To produce digital content (stories, photos, blogs, videos) to be used on the IRC and other websites and to liaise with relevant staff in the field and Abuja.
    In close coordination with IRC Communication Manager develop information materials on ERD work for communications and/or advocacy purposes (e.g. briefings and factsheets)Oversee, in coordination with supply chain, the production of visibility material for the ERD team in line with the IRC’s branding guidelines and ensure adherence on-site to the IRCs visibility obligations
    Implement and monitor the delivery of the communications material to concerned staff in location
    In close coordination with IRC communication manager, work with ERD program teams to collect success stories and audio-visual content through direct and indirect (partners) implementation
    Supervised by the ERD Sr. Monitoring Officer Support ERD program in designing and implementing information/data collection tools to better understand program audiences and beneficiaries.

    Coordination and Liaison
    Provide support to the IRC communication manager in the Jordan country office (when needed)
    Liaise and maintain contact with ERD Seniors Monitoring officer in collecting success stories and implementing communication activities.
    Liaise with information management team to capture interesting trends, information and results to be used in the communication materials
    Ensure - in close coordination with the regional Public Affairs team - that all produced materials are in lines with IRC branding and donor guidelines
    Participate in weekly follow up/feedback meetings with colleagues to maintain high quality of data management
    Attend internal coordination meetings with other ERD colleagues to discuss opportunities and challenges.

    Other Duties
    Participate in procurement planning when needed.
    Participate in regular team meetings and supervision sessions.
    Work constructively within the team and take initiative on new tasks and ideas.
    Identify areas for streamlining data entry and sorting processes

    REQUIREMENTS:
    Relevant academic background in communications, social science, Journalism, graphic design or other related fields.
    Ability to create engaging written and graphical content for internal (or if required: external) use and dialogue.
    At least one - two years of communication experience, of which preferably one year working in a humanitarian or development setting with an NGO or International Agency.
    Experience with mapping, graphics and other media.
    Experience in photography a strong asset.
    Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (esp. Final Cut, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign) a strong asset.
    Experience working with local stakeholders such as local and international NGOs, CBOs, government, academic institutions, etc.
    Experience conducting capacity building activities for local CBOs and program staff advantageous;
    Extremely organized with ability to work on several different tasks under pressure.
    Good motivational and team-building skills.
    Excellent Arabic & English skills.

    Working Environment: This position is based in Amman.
    The IRC is a team-work environment and requires a person who will work with colleagues from many cultural backgrounds, understand and contribute to the organization’s goals, work well as a member of a group/team, and respect the thoughts and opinions of others in the team.
    The position is expected to spend up to 40% of time in the field (Mafraq, Irbid, Ramtha and East Amman).
